Course Summary

The BTEC Level 3 in Performing Arts is a vocational qualification with an emphasis on investigating practitioners’ work and applying skills and techniques in live performance. The BTEC is coursework based with four units designed to cover a wide range of academic and vocational skills. In the first year you investigate the work of influential practitioners and create a report on your approaches to a given theme, and use your research to create a workshop group performance. In the second year you will explore contemporary dance and then demonstrate your understanding through developing and refining skills resulting in performances of two existing works. This course will develop skills in performance, research and investigation, evaluation and reflection, and communication. The aim is for you to become an independent practitioner in preparation for an arts based degree or for Dance College. This course offers clear progression from BTEC Level 2 Performing Arts or a GCSE in Dance
