Course Summary
The Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma in Travel and Tourism is intended to support progression to further study with the primary purpose of supporting post 16 learners’ access to Higher Education within the Leisure, Travel and Tourism sector. The purpose reflects the shift towards increased graduate employment within the industry with roles at Level 3 and below generally occurring in allied industries such as customer service and business administration.
This qualification gives learners the opportunity to cover the travel and tourism sector and develop geographical and business knowledge and skills through the extensive common core complemented by a selection of optional units.
This course is worth 3 A Levels, studied over two years. This qualification is designed to support learners who want to study travel and tourism as the main element alongside another area of complementary or contrasting study as part of a two-year, full-time study programme, as part of the IBCP curriculum. The qualification would support progression to higher education if taken as part of a programme of study that included other BTEC Nationals or A Levels.
We will endeavour to bring learning to life with real life perspective and external speakers from those who currently work in the sector including a work experience placement linked to two pieces of coursework.
