Course Summary

This option is for anyone with a passion and drive for Business. If you enjoy finding out how the Business world works and want a qualification that will give you skills for your working life then this could be a good option for you.

The double BTEC Business, can be taken with other courses or on its own in conjunction with a long term work placement.

Course Details

As well as studying units 1, 2, 3 and 8 over the 2 years you will also study the following:
Year 1
  • Unit 4 - Managing an Event (Assessed via coursework)
  • Unit 6 - Principles of Management ( Assessed via exam)
Year 2
  • Unit 5 - International Business (Assessed via coursework)
  • Unit 27 - Work Experience in Business (Assessed via coursework)

How will it be delivered and assessed?

As part of the qualification you will have to complete at least 40 hours of work placement, which can be done across your course or in one block. The school and department will support you with this to ensure that you can gain enough evidence to completed your coursework.

Entry requirements

5 GCSEs grades at 9 to 4 including English and Maths. Successful completion of a Level 2 Business course would be beneficial but not essential. If Business has been studied before then a 4 is desired, a conversation is required with the Principal Teacher.

This qualification could enable students to progress onto Higher Education, specifically to study a business related degree, It could also enable a young person to join the workforce in either an apprenticeship or full-time employment. Or help someone to start their own business.
