Entry Requirements: Grade requirements: A minimum of 48 points from your best 8 GCSE grades with no less than a Grade 5 in all subjects taken. Certain subjects have additional specific entry requirements. Information on these can be found in the online prospectus.

Course Summary
Why study Business Studies at GCSE?
• Business Studies is one of the most relevant GCSE subjects and one which is highly regarded by employers.
• Business Studies is a very popular option for GCSE at TWGSB.
• Our diverse range of learning resources ensures that all lessons are dynamic and stimulating.
• Also studying GCSE Business Studies is a recommended requirement for anyone wishing to study Business Studies or Economics at A Level.
• All students will be given a free course specific revision guide at the end of Year 10 in preparation for Module 1 exams and at the end of Year 11 for the Module 2 exams.
• In 2010 almost £10,000 has been spent on new classrooms and new text books for the Economics and Business Studies Department. All learning resources are new!
Examination Board
GCSE Business Studies at TWGSB uses the AQA Examination Board. The course is assessed through two module exams. One completed at the end of year 10 and the other completed at the end of Year 11. As well as this there is a Controlled Assignment worth 25% of the overall grade.

Use of ICT
Each GCSE Business Studies class group will have one timetabled lesson in an ICT room every fortnight. All lesson resources are available online through the VLE.
How to get top grades in GCSE Business Studies
• Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the specified subject content
• Familiarity with key terms, concepts and theories
• Develop independent learning habits involving research of current news items as well as analyse problems
• Use case studies to learn from experience how to solve business problems, make reasoned judgements and present accurate conclusions

You could take this course to prepare for advanced level courses such as an A/AS Level in Business Studies or you may need to strengthen your grades by completing a foundation or intermediate vocational qualification. With further training, you could go into a job related to business studies, marketing, finance and accounting, human resources and public relations. You could also go straight into employment and do further training or part time study with the support of your employer.
