Course Summary
This is a two year course which will result in a single A Level. This can be taken in a combination with other level 3 courses (including A level and vocational).
If taken, students will need to choose two other level 3 qualifications and will be requested to do our mandatory enrichment programme. This programme covers a range of different employment skills, other qualifications and experiences that students can use for their post 18 destinations.
Course Details
Syllabus components: (unlike GCSE, texts are allowed in the exam).
Unit 1: Drama Set texts are King Lear and Dr Faustus
Unit 2: Prose Students read The Handmaid’s Tale and Frankenstein and then have a 1 hour exam where they compare these two text in one extended essay.
Unit 3: Poetry Modernist poetry and Post 2000 poetry
Unit 4: Coursework Students investigate two texts and have the freedom to write about an aspect that interests them.
How will it be delivered and assessed?
20% Coursework and 80% Examination.

Grade 6 in English literature at GCSE.
