Course Summary

This Level 1 qualification is ideal for students who want to gain a range of different trade skills before they decide on a specific trade. The course aims to provide you with a range of carpentry, painting and decorating and bicklaying skills, alongside developing a very clear understanding of the health and safety requirements for working in the construction industry. You will create a portfolio of work which will be assessed against set criteria and you will also sit a theory exam. Students successfully completing this course can either progress onto Level 2 Site Carpentry, or Level 2 Bricklaying course or gain employment in the construction sector, including an apprenticeship for those who demonstrate a real passion, skill and commitment for the construction trades. This full-time course also includes a tutorial progamme which aims to help you to become successful independent learners, supports your well-being, provides careers guidance and advice as well as helps to further develop your knoweldge and skills to become active citzens who contribute positively to society.

Entry requirements

A minimum of four GCSEs at grade 2/F or above, including English or maths.

Your next steps...

Students who complete this course may have the opportunity to progress onto qualifications at level 2 and 3 subject to suitability, attendance record, attitude etc. Alternatively, they may be able to secure an apprenticeship or employment (with training) in their trade of choice.
