Entry Requirements: - Vary by course please see individual subject information on this website. We also require students to achieve at least five Grade 5s or above at GCSE for Level 3 curriculum. For our Level 2 Pathway, students need to have five Grade 3s or above, inlcuding English and Maths

Course Summary
Students will Study Film history of the US from the silent era to 1990 (The Gold Rush, Singing in the Rain ,Raging Bull) alongside European Film History (The Cabinet of Dr Caligari, Un Chien Andalou, L'Age D'or). Paper 2 will move on to look at concepts of film which will include Documentary (Man on Wire), Auteurism (Skyfall, The Dark Knight Rises) and Ideology (The Hurt Locker, District 9, The Grandmaster). Students will also complete NEA which will include a screenplay and digital storyboard).
This course is designed to deepen students' understanding, appreciation and enjoyment of film. The course involves coursework at the beginning of both years and examinations are essay-based. The basis of this study is of cinema as a medium that creates a relationship between spectator and film.
