Course Summary
The aim of the course is to encourage a personal approach to a variety of Fine Art areas.Students will work on several project themes using a variety of Fine Art media and techniques.The work of artists and designers will be explored in relation to students own work.
Unit 1-Coursework Portfolio
The portfolio is marked across 4 assessment objectives with a total mark of 80 (50% of AS and 25% of A2).
Unit 2-Externally Set Assignment
An externally set project that will have an emphasis on the development of ideas.A choice of 5 questions will be used as starting point.Supervised time -5 hours (80 marks,50% of AS and 25% of A2).

You could take this course to complement other advanced level courses such as History of Art or to prepare for the A2 part of an Advanced GCE in Art and Design, which could lead onto higher education in areas of art and design, photography, architecture or more general higher education courses. With further training, you could go into a job related to art and design such as an Architect, Interior Designer, Artist or fashion designer. You could also go straight into a job as the AS GCE is a recognised qualification that will encourage you to explore your creative mind and help you develop the basic skills, understanding and knowledge that many employers across lots of industries are looking for.
