Course Summary

Do you want to study a subject that encompasses many of the earth’s most pressing issues? Do you enjoy problem-solving and practical science? If so, study Geology!

Students will be required to undertake a residential trip and local day trips.

Course Details

The course covers:

• Geological Investigations

• Geological Principles and Processes

• Geological Applications including Geohazards, Geological Map Application and Geological Evolution of Britain.

• Practical Endorsement: An assessment of practical competency. Students undertake four days of fieldwork and complete experiments in the laboratory to pass the practical endorsement.

How will it be delivered and assessed?

The course consists of three examined components and a practical endorsement; the examined elements have a strong focus on analytical and evaluative skills throughout.

Entry requirements

At least 5 GCSEs graded 9-5 including English and Maths at a grade 4. A 4 or above in Sciences is preferred.

Equipment required

Students will be required to undertake a residential trip and local day trips.
