Geology A Level

Do you want to study a subject that encompasses many of the earth’s most pressing issues? Do you enjoy problem-solving and practical science? If so, study Geology!

Students will be required to undertake a residential trip and local day trips.

The course covers:

• Geological Investigations

• Geological Principles and Processes

• Geological Applications including Geohazards, Geological Map Application and Geological Evolution of Britain.

• Practical Endorsement: An assessment of practical competency. Students undertake four days of fieldwork and complete experiments in the laboratory to pass the practical endorsement.

The course consists of three examined components and a practical endorsement; the examined elements have a strong focus on analytical and evaluative skills throughout.

You could study a range of subjects at university, including Geology, Civil Engineering, Mining Geology and Hazard Management. You could also complete work-based training with organizations in these sectors or use this valuable qualification to enter employment.
