Course Summary

A traineeship is a course with work experience that gets you ready for work or an apprenticeship. This course helps learners to develop a range of employability skills, building self-confidence and motivation to seek, secure and sustain meaningful employment or an apprenticeship. It provides them with important skills, attributes, behaviours and values required to enter and succeed in the world of work.

Course Details

This is a 16 week course which consists of 3 days a week classroom based work skills course which prepares you for the workplace

Level 2 Award in Employability Skills which includes the following:

  • Understanding mindset
  • Understanding motivation
  • Problem solving in a place of work
  • Interview Skills
  • Health, safety and security in the workplace
  • Mental Health Support/Workshop

Maths and English if you do not already have these qualifications.

VTCT L2 Certificate in Hair & Beauty Skills- To include units

  • Shampoo and treat hair
  • Blow-dry and finish hair
  • Colour hair using semi-permanent colour
  • Client and customer skills
  • Follow health and safety practice in the salon
  • Creating an image based on a theme.

Work placement

2 days a week in a work placement. We will endeavour to find you a placement in an area where you are interested. You will be on placement until you have completed 198 hours.

Work experience will give you a taste of the tasks that you will face in the work environment and give you the chance to develop your practical and functional skills through introducing you to the hair and beauty industry where you will learn basic duties, how you should present a professional image in the workplace and how to follow Health & Safety.

How will it be delivered and assessed?

Aside from Maths and English, there are no exams with this course; your work will be assessed by coursework and by practical activities
