Course Summary
Are you interested in entering the health or social care provision? Do you enjoy supporting others and enabling people to be successful? Do you value independence and privacy? Then you may want to consider this course for your future pathway as we explore the complexities of human nature over a two year programme. Students could have the option of upgrading the National Diploma to the Extended Diploma.
Course Details
Within the course you will study a total of 8 units, 4 of which are externally marked including Human Lifespan Development, Working in Health and Social Care, and Enquiries into Current Research in Health and Social Care. In addition you are also required to study Meeting Individual Care and Support Needs, and Principles of Safe Practice in Health and Social Care. 5 other units that are yet to be confirmed will also be covered by your specialist teachers who all have vocational experience within the Health and Social Care profession.
How will it be delivered and assessed?
You will sit a total of 3 examinations, 2 will follow the normal examination experience with the additional being completed following an extended period of research and preparation but your final work for this unit will be assessed under examination condition and controlled assessment. The other units will be completed internally and throughout your learning you will be required to successfully complete assignments for each unit of learning. These assignments may include presentations, role-plays, group discussions, writing leaflets or a full report. All units are given deadlines to ensure work is completed within the timescale allowed and to conform with the Exam boards expectations.

With successful completion of the National, you could progress onto higher Education and careers such as Social Work, Nursing, Care Management, Occupational Therapy and many other related professions or employment with work related training.
