Entry Requirements: Some courses have additional entry requirements. These can be found on the prospectus.

Level 3 - 5 GCSEs at grade 4 or higher including English and Mathematics.

Transition - 5 GCSEs at grade 3 or higher. Either English or Mathematics must be at a grade 4.

Course Summary

Why study this subject?

Students who wish to pursue a career in health and social care or progress to university to study a related course should take this subject. This is also a subject that will allow progression to health and social care related apprenticeships. Through the study of health and social care, they will gain an understanding of how to work within health and social care settings and how to support other people.

Course content:

The course comprises of six units:

• Unit 1: Building positive relationships in health and social care

• Unit 2: Equality, diversity and rights in health and social care

• Unit 3: Health, safety and security in health and social care

• Unit 4: Anatomy and physiology for health and social care

• Two optional units which may include:

o Supporting people with disabilities

o Supporting people with mental health conditions

o Psychology for health and social care

o Sociology for health and social care

Unit 1 Internal 16.6%

Unit 2 External – 1hr 30min written examination 16.6%

Unit 3 External – 1hr 30min written examination 16.6%

Unit 4 External – 2hr written examination 25%

Unit 5 Internal 12.5%

Unit 6 Internal 12.5%
