Course Summary
The IB diploma course is designed to develop an inquiring learner who wants to deepen their knowledge of biological principles.
It provides an opportunity to study how scientists work through a practical project and an individual investigation.
Topics covered include:
Cell biology, genetics, plant biology, human and animal physiology and an optional unit on topics such as neurobiology.
This course is designed for an individual who has a passion for biology and wants to take their GCSE Science further. They will enjoy practical work and applying their knowledge to new situations.
They will want to make connections with the world around them and will be keen to open the door to a range of careers.
Course Details
How will it be delivered and assessed?
3 written papers for 80% of the marks and an individual investigation
You will also carry out a number of practical activities over the 2 years as well as completing a group project
Entry requirements
5 grade 4-9
GCSE Trilogy science grade 6-6 or GCSE biology grade 6
