Course Summary

This specification is designed to cover a wide range of ICT, from learning about how a computer and network work, to creating and learning about Augmented and Virtual Reality. This course focuses heavily on technology and how this is playing a crucial role on society. During the course, students will be given access to organisations coming and delivering special programs of study that have led to students gaining work placements projects.

The course is equivalent to one A-Level and has seen students move onto university with careers in programming and artificial intelligence to date.


Course Details

Students will learn about:

Virtual and Augmented Reality, Global Information, Fundamentals of ICT, Developing a Smarter Planet, Product Development, Project Management, Internet of everything, social media and Digital Marketing.


How will it be delivered and assessed?

Unit 1 – Fundamentals of ICT – 25% - External Assessment

Unit 2 – Global Information – 25% - External Assessment

Unit 5 – AR/VR – 17% - Internal Assessment

Unit 12 – Mobile Technology – 17% - Internal Assessment

Unit 16 -Smarter Planet – 17 % Internal Assessment


Entry requirements

Minimum of a grade 4 in English Language.

The courses offer students access to a wide variety of careers, both at apprenticeships and university levels.
