Course Summary

This course is designed to offer students an opportunity to undertake high quality, employment-related learning with a focus on Information Technologies, Computing and Computing Technologies. Students who are considering this course are doing so on a long-standing love of technology, a logical interest in what makes computers work and a passion and desire to solve problems by building and deploying computing (hardware and software) and creative technology solutions. Students will develop the skills and understanding that they need to prepare for their chosen career, preparing them for progression to higher or further education or into employment or apprenticeships.

Course Details

This course allows for an up-to-date and current curriculum of study through the development of a vocationally desirable skillset. Core units include topics such as Information Systems, Databases and social media marketing. The remainder of the units have been selected to offer a general pathway through both creative and technical ICT including web design and computer programming.

How will it be delivered and assessed?

Students will be assessed by external exam and coursework assessed projects in which students will learn to apply social media techniques and strategies to market businesses and organisations.

Entry requirements

At Least 4-5 GCSEs Graded 9-4, Including English Or Maths.

Your next steps...

Students completing this course would be well equipped to enter the technology sector, through employment, or a Level 3 apprenticeship. Students could continue education at degree level in technical and creative IT courses such as computer hardware, cyber-security, game development or web technology.
