Entry Requirements - Generally, in order to study Level 3 courses you must have achieved a minimum of five GCSE passes at grades 9 – 4, including English and maths at a grade 4 or above, or a Level 2 Pass in a relevant vocational qualification. Some A Level courses require you to have achieved specific grades in either that subject, English or maths.

For Level 2 courses you will need to achieve 3 GCSEs at grade 3 or above. Both English and maths must be at grade 2 or above.

Course Summary

This qualification is designed for students who are interested in creating IT systems to manage and share information. It will give them the opportunity to develop their knowledge and skills in IT systems, systems management and social media in business

Course Details

Within this course stduents will complete the following Units

Unit 1 – Information Technology Systems: Study the role of computer systems and the implications of their use in personal and professional situations.

Unit 2 - Creating Systems to Manage Information: Study the design, creation, testing and evaluation of a relational database system to manage information.

Unit 3 – Using Social Media in Business: Explore how businesses use social media to promote their products and services. Implement social media activities in a business to meet requirements.

Unit 6– Website Development: Investigate website development principles. Design and develop a website using scripting languages.

How will it be delivered and assessed?

Unit 1 is a 2 hours written exam.

All other units are assessed through coursework assignments.

Unit 2 is assessed externally, whilst Units 3 and 6 are assessed internally.

Entry requirements

At least 5 GCSE grades 9-4 including English and Maths.
