Course Summary

  • This study programme is designed for students who would like to boost their GCSEs and other vocational qualifications in order to secure a place on a Level 3 course in a sixth form or college in the future. This programme is ideal for 16-year olds who want to continue with a more traditional level 3 studies (A levels and Vocational studies) and need to enhance their current qualifications to achieve the right entry criteria for the institution and courses of their choice. If you are looking to do Level 3 and A level courses as well as further studies beyond this in the future, then this is the course for you.

This is a full-time study programme.

It is expected that students study 3-5 different qualifications through this pathway. If the timetable allows, work experience can also be included within this pathway. Students will study a combination of the following in their suite of qualifications:

  • Core non qualifications: Personal Development Learning, Skills and Careers Development (all students)
  • GCSE/FS Maths (if applicable)
  • GCSE/FS English (if applicable)
  • GCSE Citizenship
  • GCSE Film
  • BTEC Public Services

  • UAL Level 2 Certificate in Drawing
  • BTEC Leadership through Sport
  • LIBF Financial qualifications
  • Work Experience

How will it be delivered and assessed?

There will be a combination of taught sessions, independent study, tutorials and practical activities. Dependent on the pathway and needs, students may have the opportunity to include work experience within their studies. Assessments for each qualification are outlined in the course content sheets but will have a combination of external examinations and coursework.

Entry requirements

This suite of courses is aimed at Level 2 learners with GCSE English and/or Maths to be studied alongside this programme if a Grade 4 has not been achieved.

Learners are likely to have evidence of achievement with GCSE and vocational qualifications at Grades 1-4. However, students can also access this course if they have not achieved any previous qualifications due to different personal circumstances.

Your next steps...

The requirements of this study programme lead to learners achieving the necessary qualification grades to study Level 3 courses in a sixth form at a school or college. Learners may also look to secure an apprenticeship after their studies.
