Course Summary
The course is based on the interaction between the theory and practice of Physical Education.
Course Details
AS - (Section A) Anatomy and Physiology. This section focuses on the impact of physical activity on the systems of the body. (Section B) Acquiring Movement Skills The candidate will be assessed as a performer, coach or official in two activities and will evaluate and plan for the improvement of performance. (Section C) Socio-Cultural Studies relating to participation in physical activity. A2 - (Section A) Historical Studies This section focuses on the historical factors that had an impact on and continue to affect participation in physical activity. (Section B) Sports Psychology and Exercise and Sport Physiology Applies psychological concepts and influences such as attitudes, motivation and goal setting.
How will it be delivered and assessed?
The candidate will be assessed as a performer, coach or official in one activity, and evaluate and plan for the improvement of performance. This must be one of the activities they were assessed in at AS Level.
Entry requirements
It is expected that students will have studied Physical Education before, though this is not essential.
