Course Summary
If you are keen to join one of the Armed Forces or the Emergency Services, this course is for you. It will help develop your personal organisation, team working, leadership, discipline, and physical fitness.
There is a uniform that students will be expected to wear for all lessons. Some activities with armed services are subsidised, but there will be additional costs for some off-site sporting and outdoor activities.
Course Details
The Uniformed Services course is intended to develop your knowledge, understanding and skills required for successful employment in Uniformed Services at an operational level, or for progressing to advanced study. The six units of study cover the role of Uniformed Services and careers within the Armed Forces, Emergency and Security Services, HM Customs and Excise, community service organisations, and the skills required to perform the roles.
Units include:
• Public Services Skills
• Employment
• Health and Fitness
• Activities and Teamwork
• Sport and Recreation
You will also participate in the Duke of Edinburgh Award.
How will it be delivered and assessed?
The course will be assessed by coursework. The coursework will take the form of written assignments, tutor observations, and photographic, audio, and video evidence. You will compile a portfolio of these assessments.

Progress to an advanced programme of study e.g. Level 3 in Uniformed Services (merit or distinction preferred). You could also enter an armed service at an operational level or other community-based services.
