Entry Requirements: Our general entry requirements are:-
• A Levels – advanced courses, two year study programme, with an average entry requirement of at least five grade 5+ qualifications, including English and mathematics. Some subjects may have additional entry requirements.
• BTEC Level 3 – advanced courses, two year study programme, with an average entry requirement of at least five grade 4+ qualifications, including English and mathematics. Some subjects may have additional entry requirements.
• T Level - technical course, two year study programme, with an average entry requirement of at least five grade 5+ qualifications, including English and mathematics.
• BTEC Level 2 – One year programme, which could lead on to further studies, with an average entry requirement at least five grade 2 or above, including English and mathematics.

Course Summary
Summary of skills students gain by studying this subject
The students will acquire technical skills through vocational contexts. Examples of this include the study of how to measure a client's health, wellbeing and level of fitness prior to their participation in a fitness programme, how to demonstrate the safe and effective use of a range of fitness equipment and how to support the delivery of exercise and fitness sessions. The qualification will also provide opportunity to improve organisation, communication, motivation and presentation skills as well as developing their awareness of the sporting sector and its requirements. By completing this course, students will have a broadened understanding of the varied progression they can take and the options available to them.

Potential Topics that will be studied
Students will explore five mandatory units within the Assistant Fitness Instructor course pathway:
- U1 - Physical activity, health and wellbeing.
- U2 - Physical preparation and readiness for sport and physical activity.
- U3 - Inclusivity, equality and diversity in delivering sport and physical activity.
- U4 - Leading sport and physical activity sessions.
- U5 - Customer service in sport and physical activity.
Students will complete 9 units in total.
How will it be delivered and assessed?
Assessment
This course will be assessed through both internal and external assessment. 22% of the qualification in Units 1 and 2 is assessed externally through examinations. All other assessments will be coursework-based units that are internally assessed.
