Subject Choices: - You will need to select a minimum of 3 subjects to study and these can be a mixture of A Levels and BTECs with SEFA and MWBA in addition to your full time studies.

Course Summary

Combining classroom theory with practical sport you will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of different sporting activities and events. Lessons will vary in style to tailor to the needs of the unit being taught. You will experience group work, independent research, teacher input along with educational trips and student led sessions to your peers and younger students.

Course Details

Course equivalent to two A Levels

9 units taught of which 9 are mandatory

Mandatory Unit 1- Anatomy and Physiology

Mandatory Unit 2 -Fitness Training and Programming for Heath, Sport and well-being

Mandatory Unit 3 – Professional development in sports industry

Mandatory Unit 4 – Sports Leadership

Mandatory Unit 5 – Application of Fitness Testing

Mandatory Unit 7 – Practical Sports Performance

Mandatory Unit 8 – Coaching for performance

Mandatory Unit 22 Business in Sport

Mandatory Unit 23 Skill Acquisition

How will it be delivered and assessed?

Units 1 & 2 are assessed through exams. Unit 1 exam is taken in January.

All other units are assessed through pieces of coursework which can be presented in a variety of ways depending on the requirements or content of the unit. This can included written or verbal presentations, reports, data analysis, coaching logs and plans.


Entry requirements

Grade 4-9 GCSE PE or Level 2 Pass in a Sport course (GCSE, CNAT or BTEC). If no PE course taken, Grade 5-9 in Science
