General Entry Requirements:
Our level 3 Sixth Form entry requirements are five GCSEs at Grades 9-4 including Maths and English minimum Grade 4. However, please read the course information, which, provides specific details of course content and entry requirements.
For level 2 courses please read the course information.
Subjects: -
Level 3 - Enter your choices in order of preference for Level 3 courses. Students need to select the equivalent of 3 courses (Triple counts as 3), with 2 reserve options if selecting Level 3 courses. Year 12 are expected to study the equivalent of three subjects. Once we close to applicants on the 6 February the options selected will be reviewed and if required we will be in contact.
Level 2 - just add the course required, eg beauty, finance or fitness. However, please look up all entry requirements for individual subjects as some subjects require specific subjects and grades.
Timetable Blocks- Please read carefully: Level 3 Courses Please select 3 subjects and 2 reserve subjects by placing them in a ranked order/ or a Pathway. Once applications close we will review all subjects requested and may be in contact at this time to discuss your chosen subjects further.
Additional optional qualifications such as Arts Award (Gold),Core Maths, Further Maths and the EPQ are not applied for at the Kent Choice stage further information will be provided in the 6th Form induction if you would like to undertake this course in addition to your core qualifications.

Course Summary
The travel and tourism industry is one of the fastest-growing sectors in the world, with over 100 million people employed in it globally. As the travel industry continues to expand, it offers multiple career opportunities, with an estimated 3.7 million jobs anticipated in the UK over the next decade.Studying tourism enhances skills that are applicable to many industries, such as research, planning, communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving.Students learn about the tourism industry's products, structures and operations within the tourism industry, tour operators, airlines, hotels, and tourist boards, as well as the relationships between consumers and service providers.In summary, studying tourism provides valuable insights into this progressive industry.
We actively encourage students to participate in work-related activities including work tasters, volunteering or a work placement. This provides students with the opportunity to develop their career choices, experience the world of work and develop employability skills. Trips and visiting speakers are arranged by the course leaders.
Course Details
How will it be delivered and assessed?
There are three mandatory units; learners must also complete one optional unit.
Mandatory Units:
• Unit 1, The World of Travel and Tourism - This unit provides the foundation for learners to study other units in Travel and Tourism. They will explore the key components and scale of the industry, using data to analyse key trends and their impact. This unit is externally assessed by a 1.5 hour written exam.
• Unit 2, Global Destinations – This unit enables learners to investigate and analyse information regarding the features and appeal of global destinations, travel planning, and the factors and trends affecting the changing popularity of global destinations. This unit is assessed under supervised conditions. Learners will be given information two weeks before a supervised assessment period to carry out research.
• Unit 3, Principles of Marketing in Travel and Tourism - Learners investigate the use of marketing in Travel and Tourism organisations and how to meet customer expectations in order to inform a promotional campaign of their own design. This unit is assessed internally and moderated externally.
One of the following optional Units:
• Unit 9 Visitor Attractions - Analytical skills are developed further in this unit as students investigate the nature and role of both built and natural visitor attractions, their commercial success, appeal, response to diverse visitor needs and the importance of delivering a memorable visitor experience.
• Unit 11 Events, Conferences and Exhibitions - Learners will develop knowledge and skills in resource and financial planning as they gain an insight into a wide range of events, conferences and exhibitions that are relevant to the Travel and Tourism industry.
Entry requirements
2 Year Course - Normally 5 GCSE grades in the range of 9-4, including Maths, English (Minimum Grade 4). You do not need to have studied Travel before you undertake this course.

The course is designed to provide an all-round introduction to the Travel and Tourism industry for students who wish to pursue a career in one of its many connected occupational areas. These include careers in retail travel, visitor attractions, accommodation, transport and tour operations. You do not need to have studied Travel and Tourism before you undertake this course.
