Course Summary

Student profile

Interested in either a childcare career or health-related career. The course is a mix of health, social care and childcare. The course will suit students who would like a course that is varied and is a mix of coursework and examined units. Students also need to be confident to enter the Health, Social Care and Childcare workplace as this is a vital part of the course. Students need to be prepared for large proportion of written work and to be able to meet strict deadlines.

Why this course?

A mix of examined units and coursework units. A variety of subjects are taught such as: safeguarding, health and safety, sexual health, infection control, positive relationships, person centred care, equality and diversity.

Units studied, 6 in total:

Unit 1: Building positive relationships (coursework)

Unit 2: Equality, Rights and Diversity (examined)

Unit 3: Health, Safety and Security (examined)

Unit 4: Anatomy and Physiology (examined)

Unit 13: Sexual Health and Reproduction (coursework)

Unit 24: Public Health.

6 units - 3 coursework and 3 examined.

GENERIC VOCATIONAL ENTRY REQUIREMENTS: GCSE 4-9 in English Language & Vocational course at Level 2 Merit

SUBJECT SPECIFIC ENTRY REQUIREMENTS: Four GCSE grades at 4-9 including English and Maths. Grade 4 in GCSE Science is required
