You will need to pay your apprentice’s wage, but you may not have to pay anything else towards the apprenticeship.
If your company has less than 50 employees, the government will fully fund the apprenticeship training if the apprentice is 16-18 (up to 24 if they have an EHCP or are a care leaver).
If your company pays into the apprenticeship levy you will use these funds to pay for the apprenticeship training.
If you have more than 50 employees, but don’t pay the apprenticeship levy, the government will fund 95% of the training costs. However, if you are a Kent employer you may be able to access KCC’s levy funds. To access the levy you will need to meet a set criteria, please contact us for further information on this.
Depending on the circumstances of the apprenticeship, you may be entitled to incentive payments from the government.
