Some placements may be classed as ‘clinical’, meaning they will be directly related to patients and their treatment. Others are classed as ‘non-clinical’, meaning working within the wider teams to assist with the running of the Trust such as administration or finance.
Within clinical areas, we accept applications from the age of 16 (Year 12), however please note that some departments have age restrictions in place and cannot accept anyone under the age of 18.
Non-clinical placements are available to individuals who have completed their GCSEs from the age of 16 (Year 11) and above.
Please note that all work experience is observational only.

We will be opening applications for the summer months of June, July and August on Friday 15 March 2024.
We offer placements to
- Secondary school children
- Post-16 students, including college, A-level, undergraduates, and postgraduates
- Opportunities for anyone interested in pursuing a career change
- Unemployed people or anyone who may have taken a career break and is interested in any of the 350 careers at the NHS
