Course Details
The units in the course will equip you with the skills and knowledge needed to access a degree in Veterinary Science or Zoology.
Topics you will cover include:
- Biology
- Chemistry
- Diagnostic testing
- Animal health and animal welfare legislation
- Animal husbandry
- Animal nursing
- Academic writing and study skills
The course comprises of the minimum 15 credits in Biology and Chemistry that many universities require students to achieve to be successful in applying for Veterinary Science programmes.
How will it be delivered and assessed?
Assessment will be through completing reports, presentations and exams. You will also be assessed on your key transferable skills such as maths and English. You will complete an extended scientific project to support you with developing your research skills in preparation for university.

The Access to HE Diploma is a nationally recognised qualification that enables you to gain entry to university. On successful completion of the course, you can progress onto a degree in Veterinary Medicine, Veterinary Science, Veterinary Nursing and other Animal Science related degrees.
