Level 1 Certificate in Carpentry and Joinery

Develop the confidence and basic skills to begin a career within in the construction industry.

This course will introduce students to the basics of woodwork and carpentry. Students will learn:

• Health and safety in construction trades
• Working and communicating effectively in construction trades
• Construct woodworking joints
• Fit architrave and skirting
• Fit ironmongery to an internal door

Throughout the course, you will learn a wide variety of skills and techniques in our well-equipped workshops.

You will learn through practical lessons in the workshops. Assessment will be through completing a portfolio of work, practical observations, written work and online tests.

On successful completion you could move onto a higher level of study. Alternatively, you could seek employment within the industry (you may need to gain a CSCS Card first).
