Course Summary
Perfect for beginners and those wanting to boost existing skills, this short course is practical, fun, and designed to give you a real taste of the hairdressing industry.
In our professional salon, you'll learn how to cut and style like the professionals, and gain the know-how to create salon quality looks with confidence.
As you progress, you’ll begin to understand different career pathways within the sector, preparing you for further study or future opportunities in this creative and rewarding industry.
Course Details
You’ll learn how to cut both long and short hairstyles, using professional tools and techniques that are essential for working in a salon or offering services independently.
Units are in-depth and prepare you for a wide range of specialisms.
These units include:
• Cutting techniques
• Client consultation and choosing the right style
• Creating basic shapes and styles with precision
• Understanding different hair types and providing suitable aftercare
• Hygiene and safe professional practices
Most of your clients will be found in our industry-standard commercial salons. These spaces give you genuine experience using professional equipment and products while gaining confidence in a salon environment.
You’ll also begin to discover which area of the hair and beauty industry suits your interests and strengths, by getting involved in events and working with local partners.
How will it be delivered and assessed?
All assessments are designed to ensure you can demonstrate your practical ability and understanding of professional hairdressing techniques.
You’ll mainly be assessed with practical observations in our salon, whilst you work with clients.
Throughout the course, you’ll also build a portfolio of your work, giving you a visual record of your progress and achievements that you can use for future opportunities.
Your next steps...
The course supports progression to further education and training, and can serve as a stepping stone toward employment in salons.
You could also go into employment into related areas, such as retail or customer service within the hairdressing industry.
