Course Summary

The use of technology within the Health and Social Care sector is more accessible than ever before, improving people’s quality of life. Assistive Technologies, such as Hearing Aids, Wheelchairs, and Prostheses, continue to transform the lives of patients, people with disabilities, and the elderly. This course allows students to explore these technologies in-depth, understand their impact on the Health and Social industry and how healthcare workers can correctly support individuals to access and use aids effectively. By completing the course, you’ll gain a fresh perspective on technology, health, and care, empowering you to make informed decisions in the workplace.

Course Details

This is an advanced course designed to equip students with in-depth knowledge and practical skills needed as they explore the range, purpose and effectiveness of assistive technology used within Health and Care settings.

Within this course, students will cover:

  • Values and principles that govern the use of assisted living technology
  • Benefits and challenges of assisted living technology
  • Ethical and legal issues relating to assisted living technology
  • Most common assistive technology aids and how they work
  • Supporting individuals to use assistive technology aids
  • How to prepare the environment
