This qualification provides a robust foundation in core scientific principles across biology, chemistry, and physics. The course is designed to equip you with essential laboratory skills and practical, real-world problem-solving abilities. Key aims include fostering an interdisciplinary understanding of science, developing critical thinking, and preparing you for the workforce with industry-relevant knowledge. You will also enhance your communication skills to effectively convey scientific information.

The curriculum is built on core modules covering the fundamentals of biology, chemistry, and physics, providing comprehensive training in professional laboratory techniques and modern biological science applications. Students can explore specialised topics such as Environmental Science, Health Science, or Forensic Science. Throughout the course, you will develop vital skills in data analysis, research methods, and scientific communication, supported by hands-on laboratory projects and opportunities for industry placements.

Your progress will be evaluated through a diverse range of assessment methods to ensure a comprehensive measure of your theoretical knowledge and practical competencies. These include written assignments to demonstrate theoretical understanding, practical examinations for laboratory skills, project work applying knowledge to real-world problems, portfolios showcasing coursework and reflections, and scheduled quizzes and tests to gauge comprehension of key topics.

In addition to the general entry requirements for Level 3 courses, applicants should have achieved a minimum of GCSE grade 4 in English Language, grade 5 in Mathematics, and two grade 5s in Science (or a 5-5 in Combined Science).
