Course Details
Content is delivered over six modules:
Module 1 – Development of practical skills
Module 2 – Foundations in chemistry
Module 3 – Periodic table & energy
Module 4 – Core organic chemistry
Module 5 – Physical chemistry & transition elements
Module 6 – Organic chemistry & analysis
How will it be delivered and assessed?
Chemistry is assessed through three examination papers, Paper 1 and 2 are worth 37% and Paper 3 26% of the final grade. Assessment of practical skills is a compulsory element of Chemistry, practical skills will be assessed through both examination papers and observed practical activities.
Paper 1 - Periodic table, elements and physical chemistry (2hr 15 mins)
Paper 2 - Synthesis and analytical techniques (2hrs 15mins)
Paper 3 - Unified chemistry (1hrs 30mins)
Entry requirements
In order to attend Meopham Sixth Form the minimum entry requirement is 5 level 4 GCSEs, including English Language and Mathematics.
To study Chemistry you are required to achieve level 5 or above in English Language and level 6 or above in Mathematics and a 66 or above in combined science qualifications or a 6 in all single science qualifications.
