Course Summary
Geography deals with major world issues in a vigorous way; it gives a wider picture of the world in which we live. The study of Geography will equip you with an appreciation of the relationships between people and their environment – both locally and globally. Students will develop an in-depth understanding of physical and human geography, the complexity of people and environment questions and issues, and to become critical, reflective and independent learners. This is achieved through an issues-based approach to studying geography, enabling students to explore and evaluate contemporary geographical questions and issues such as the consequences of globalisation, responses to hazards, water insecurity and climate change.

Your next steps...
Geography is a “facilitating” subject with a wide range of skills that are beneficial for future studies or careers. The practical elements of fieldwork and data collection, combined with data presentation, analysis and evaluative skills make it one of the most employable subjects post University. Similarly the ability to gain critical skills is a particular strength, with an emphasis on skills for the future. A level Geography could lead on to Higher education to study Geography, or other related disciplines. With further training, you could go into a job related to geography such as a Town Planner, Environmental Officer or Weather Forecaster. It will not limit your options.
