Course Summary

What you will study - Year 1

Proof, Algebra and functions, Coordinate geometry in the (x,y) plane, Sequences and series, Trigonometry, Exponentials and logarithms, Differentiation, Integration , Numerical methods, Vectors and Statistical sampling.

What you will study - Year 2

Data presentation and interpretation, Probability, Statistical distributions, Statistical hypothesis testing, Quantities and units in mechanics, Kinematics, Forces and Newton’s laws, Moments.

Course Details

What you will study - Year 1

Proof, Algebra and functions, Coordinate geometry in the (x,y) plane, Sequences and series, Trigonometry, Exponentials and logarithms, Differentiation, Integration , Numerical methods, Vectors and Statistical sampling.

What you will study - Year 2

Data presentation and interpretation, Probability, Statistical distributions, Statistical hypothesis testing, Quantities and units in mechanics, Kinematics, Forces and Newton’s laws, Moments.

How will it be delivered and assessed?

Examination

• Paper 1 and 2 pure mathematics: A: Proof, Algebra and Functions, Coordinate Geometry, Sequences and Series, Trigonometry

Exponentials and Logarithms, Differentiation, Integration, Numerical Methods and Vectors

Written exam: 2 hours each paper, 100 marks each, 66.7% of A-level

Paper 3 Statistics and Mechanics

What's assessed: Any content from: Statistical Sampling, Data Presentation and Interpretation, Probability, Statistical Distributions, Statistical Hypothesis Testing, Quantities and Units in Mechanics, Kinematics, Forces and, Newton’s Laws and Moments. Written exam: 2 hours, 100 marks, 33⅓ %.

You will be required to complete weekly homework and regular assessments to ensure that you remain on target.
