The course enhances your linguistic skills and develops your capacity for critical thinking on the basis

of your knowledge and understanding of the language, culture and society of the country or

countries where the language is spoken.

Students develop their ability to interact effectively with

users of the language in speech and in writing and develop effective communication strategies.

Students learn to engage critically with intellectually stimulating texts and films and understand them

within their cultural and social context. Students equip themselves with transferable skills such as

autonomy, resourcefulness, creativity and critical thinking which will be beneficial as they proceed to

further study or employment.

Paper 1 - Listening, Reading and

Translation (2 hrs) - 40%

Paper 2 - Written response to

works and translation - (2hrs, 40

Paper 3 - Speaking - (20 - 25 mins)

GCSE Grade 6 in French

Upon successful completion of the course, the qualification allows you the opportunity to study a wide

variety of degree subjects, including Modern Languages, Law, Journalism, Engineering, Media and

Advertising along with most Arts degree subjects. Subsequent career opportunities include Teaching,

Interpreting and Translation, Travel and Tourism, and a wider variety of business careers.
