Course Summary

This is a two year course which will result in a single A Level. This can be taken in a combination with other level 3 courses (including A level and vocational).

If taken, students will need to choose two other level 3 qualifications and will be requested to do our mandatory enrichment programme. This programme covers a range of different employment skills, other qualifications and experiences that students can use for their post 18 destinations.

Course Details

Course description: There are 2 units in total:

Year 1

Skills based projects. Mini projects set throughout the year on varying themes to develop students photographic and Photoshop skills.

Year 2

Component 1: Personal investigation – A practical based project relating to a topic of personal interest submitted with a written essay.

Component 2: Externally set assignment–A project where the theme is set by the examination board. Students complete there final outcome in an 15 hour exam.

How will it be delivered and assessed?

60% Coursework, 40% Examination (externally set assignment)

Entry requirements

Grade 4 in English at GCSE.

The course provides a broad range of both practical and theoretical topics that would allow students to develop their personal interests in the field.

Art A levels can open up a variety of options at apprenticeship and university when studied in combination with other subjects. e.g. with maths or physics, this can be an gateway subject for architecture. It can also be combined with other creative subjects for future creative pathways.
