Welcome to Westlands School
We are very pleased that you are considering our school for the next step in your education. Our aim is simple; to ensure that you achieve all that you are capable of and that you receive the very best support in order to fulfil your true potential.
Westlands School is based on a tradition of success in terms of high achievement, a caring approach to our students, and in providing opportunities for all. Whatever your background, learning needs, gifts and talents, we believe we can offer all students a chance to do well, both with regard to their learning and in preparation for adulthood. As a large school we have facilities to appeal to students who are academic, creative, and practical. There really is something for everybody. We offer a wide variety of subjects and have high expectations of our students.
At Westlands School we like to concentrate on success and reward students who excel. We understand that young people make mistakes, but we expect them to take responsibility and deal with their actions. We expect students to show care, courtesy and consideration to both staff and other students.
As a school we embrace change and move with the times. However, at the heart of any change is a core ethos of encouraging our students to do well in school and enabling them to succeed in the future. At Westlands School we have high aspirations for our students.
Throughout your time at Westlands Sixth Form, whatever your ability, interests and talents, you will be offered the opportunity to be part of an aspirational community. You will be offered experiences within and beyond the classroom that will further develop skills which will be highly valued in universities, apprenticeships and employment.
A vision for Westlands Sixth Form is for every student to have the opportunity to meet their full potential and be well equipped for the transition into the ever-changing world of work.
Our intention for Westlands School students is to create an ambitious and robust career programme that students follow from year 7 to year 13 and beyond. We aim to provide opportunities in and around that curriculum that inspire students to think beyond the skills learnt in the classroom and see their place in the world of work. Students can make well-informed decisions and overcome any preconceptions or biases to allow them to aim high.
We really do 'Expect More' and we hope you do too.
