About Us

Founded in 1801 by HRH Frederick, Duke of York, DOYRMS was originally established to educate the children of military personnel. In 1908, the school moved to Dover, Kent, and in 2010, it opened its doors to include students from all backgrounds, not just military families.

The cost of education is covered by the government, with Ministry of Defence sponsorship supporting certain activities. Parents contribute only to boarding fees which currently stand at £4,073 per term for Flexi Boarding and £7,400 per term for Full / Weekly Boarding.

Centenary House offers Sixth Form students' superb en-suite accommodation, fostering independence while maintaining strong support structures. Students are expected to uphold the highest personal standards, work diligently, and serve as role models for younger peers.

Guided by values of courage, integrity, respect, commitment, loyalty, and self-discipline, our students develop maturity, resilience, and confidence, preparing them for success in further education and beyond.

School Motto

"Looking forward with confidence, looking back with pride."

Sixth Form at DOYRMS

Sixth Form is a pivotal stage in a student’s education. It shapes character, nurtures independence, and helps define future aspirations. It’s a time for academic growth, personal development, and discovering individual strengths.

At DOYRMS, our Sixth Form students share common goals: to strive for academic excellence, build strong friendships, pursue career ambitions, and develop independence in a supportive and vibrant environment. Our dedicated staff are committed to helping students realise their full potential, instilling confidence, ambition, and a strong sense of purpose.

Our Future Forward Programme equips Sixth Form students with the skills and knowledge needed to navigate life beyond academia with confidence and clarity. This initiative blends engaging lessons, workshops, and expert-led talks, ensuring students are well-prepared for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.

Through guidance from industry professionals, educators, and mentors, students gain invaluable insights into career planning, financial literacy, personal development, and overall wellbeing. The programme empowers them to make informed decisions, pursue their passions, and thrive in their future endeavours.

Structured around Academic Excellence, Career Exploration, Financial Literacy, Mental and Physical Wellness, and Essential Life Skills, Future Forward provides a holistic foundation for success beyond school.
