About us

Welcome to The Folkestone School for Girls

About us

Our School boasts a happy, well-disciplined community with a strong academic tradition, which also provides a wealth of experiences through extra-curricular activities. We want our students to enjoy their time here and become fully involved in the life of the School.

We expect students to be industrious and behave in a way that makes a positive contribution to the whole School community. We will have achieved our aims if students leave the School confident that they possess the necessary skills, knowledge and understanding to enable them to take their place in society.

Post-16 Provision:

At The Folkestone School for Girls we can guarantee a first class, all-round educational experience, which was acknowledged by the Ofsted inspection team when they last visited our school in April 2024, with Sixth Form graded as Outstanding. We are able to offer students excellent teaching in a wide range of level 3 courses including A Level and Vocational courses and our ethos is very much imbedded in the all round development of our students. Therefore within the Sixth Form we have a range of opportunities to develop students knowledge, skills and experiences in a range of areas outside of their level three qualifications, as well as within them.

Over a number of years we have forged Sixth Form links with the Harvey Boys’ Grammar School in order to offer an even wider curriculum. As such we only enrol females into our Sixth Form, and the Harvey only enrol males, as we work in partnership with one another for our Sixth Form provision.

We are proud not only of the high quality care and support which we give so that students are able to fulfil their potential, but also the constructive Careers Education and Guidance which we offer in order to help them make informed and realistic choices at 18+. Over 70% of our students go on to Higher Education each year. They acquire places at institutions throughout the UK and undertake a very wide range of courses. We are also dedicated to providing help and support for those students who wish to enter the world of employment and enhance their learning whilst in the work place when they have completed their Advanced Level courses.

Whilst the Sixth Form is about learning, it is also about students enjoying themselves and using constructively the greater freedom with which they are entrusted. Moreover, it offers the opportunity to have a fresh start and develop new interests.
