Thank you for considering RGS for your Sixth Form A level options. When studying with us it is important that you acknowledge that we are offering full time education, and therefore students should expect to engage with extended study outside of their timetabled lessons, beyond just the work set by their teachers. Students who excel in their A levels are proactive, and take steps to engage with their learning at all times, not just when directed to.

Lessons in Sixth Form are engaging and thought provoking, delivered by staff who have academic expertise. Students should expect to be active participants in their learning, rather than being passive. Our lessons are well resourced, with knowledge banks and non-contact materials provided in all subjects.

Outside of the taught curriculum, students engage with a wide-ranging enrichment programme, with timetabled periods given over to extra- and super-curricular pursuits which students can tailor to their own interests and needs, and which will vary throughout the year. Enrichment experiences range from recreational sports, to debate club, to volunteering at local primary schools, to competing in the Bar Mock Trial (for which we have been regional champions for 3 years in a row) and allow students to develop skills that will last a life time.

Students in our Sixth Form are critical to the life of our school on a wider scale, taking up roles such as Head Student, Executive Officers, House and Academic Officers, as well as being trained peer mentors. Developing and honing leadership skills and being able to leave RGS ready to succeed in future pathways is essential to our A level programme.

Entry Requirements:  4 GCSE passes at grade 6 or above including grade 5s in Maths and either English Literature or Language.
