About us

Welcome to The Sittingbourne School Sixth Form, where we offer a broad and challenging programme of study to all our students, whether they are looking for an academic, vocational or work ready pathway to their future.

We have a dedicated sixth form area for our students, offering extensive IT facilities and canteen , performing arts and recording studios, a specialised equipped engineering workshop and sports facilities.

Students are extremely well supported through their studies in our sixth form and are offered a wide range of events and activities to support their progression plans into higher education, apprenticeships or employment. Much of this is covered within our Character Education and personal development tutor programme.

Entry Requirements: Our general entry requirements are:-

• A Levels – advanced courses, two year study programme, with an average entry requirement of at least five grade 5+ qualifications, including English and mathematics. Some subjects may have additional entry requirements.

• BTEC Level 3 – advanced courses, two year study programme, with an average entry requirement of at least five grade 4+ qualifications, including English and mathematics. Some subjects may have additional entry requirements.

• T Level - technical course, two year study programme, with an average entry requirement of at least five grade 5+ qualifications, including English and mathematics.

• BTEC Level 2 – One year programme, which could lead on to further studies, with an average entry requirement at least five grade 2 or above, including English and mathematics.

When considering which courses you will apply for, make sure you are looking at the right level of study for you.

If you are applying for a Level 3 pathway, you need to select three single subjects, or a double and a single subject.

You cannot mix Level 3 and Level 2 subjects, but you can mix A Levels and Level 3 vocational subjects (except Engineering which is a complete pathway on its own).

Hi, my name is Summer, and I study sociology, criminology, and health and social care. I chose these subjects because they align with my passion for working in the field of mental health. I am fascinated by the way society functions, and studying sociology gives me the opportunity to explore this in greater depth. I have been a student at The Sittingbourne School since Year 7, and I chose to stay on because of the continuous support and encouragement I have received from all members of staff.

As a Head of Student Leadership, I am dedicated to amplifying the student voice. I listen to pupils’ opinions and concerns, bringing them forward to the team so we can discuss meaningful changes and improvements. Our role involves working closely with both staff and students to shape school life—whether that’s by supporting peers, organising events, or leading initiatives that make a positive impact on our school.

My name is Heidi, and I am a Head of Student Leadership at The Sittingbourne School Sixth Form. I'm currently pursuing sport studies and criminology with the long term goal of becoming a Police Officer. Since moving to The Sittingbourne School for my Post-16 courses, I have been surrounded by an amazing, supportive learning environment provided by all of the teachers. Thanks to this environment, my move from Year 11 at my previous school to Year 12 here was extremely successful and boosted my confidence.

I greatly value the independent study time offered in sixth form, which is crucial for completing assignments and proactively preparing for future units. The sixth form room offers a quiet and focused atmosphere for studying, complemented by the new food area where canteen options are available.
