About us

Welcome to Valley Park School: About us

Valley Park Sixth Form aims to provide an outstanding learning experience and to prepare students for the future demands of Higher Education and the workplace. Although our high level of academic success is a key feature, the Sixth Form works equally hard to help you develop your skills, character, and levels of independence. We take care to create an environment which has rigorous expectations and to provide students with everything necessary to be successful.

In our Sixth Form we pride ourselves on the opportunities we offer students to be individuals. Our personalised curriculum offers students a wide range of subject choice enabling students to consider their individual interests and academic strengths. Our pastoral support system offers students the opportunity to access individual advice, support and guidance at any point throughout their studies in the Sixth Form, depending upon their needs. Our personalised opportunities programme of enrichment activities including the 'Futures Programme' offers individual choice and each student the opportunity to participate in activities, outside their academic studies, to develop a portfolio of individual experiences. Our Information, Advice and Guidance programme offers students the opportunity to have access with an in house qualified career adviser, as they need, to make their individual plans for the future.

Our dedicated Sixth Form Centre provides students with a base where they can relax, socialise and complete group study sessions in a non formal setting. In addition, our award winning library and private study area provides space for students to work quietly on their individual academic requirements and is recognised as being a stepping stone to the facilities offered at university.

All students are required to gain 5 GCSE passes at grade 9-4, including English, to gain entry to the Sixth Form. Each course has individualised, tailored entry requirements to ensure standards and achievement of students is considered and planned for. Please check the requirements for each subject carefully on this website or in our application guide which can be found on our website. If you would like to find out more about what our Sixth Form can offer you then please browse the range of courses we offer and contact us at the school for a prospectus. We look forward to hearing from you.
