Become an Enterprise Adviser
An Enterprise Adviser is a business volunteer who works in partnership with a local school, college or alternative provision across Kent and Medway.
Acting as a critical friend to the Careers Leader and senior leadership team, they help connect education with the real world of work and support the development of strong, sustainable careers programmes.
Enterprise Advisers bring industry insight, strategic thinking and local labour market knowledge to help education settings better prepare young people for their next steps.

Enterprise Advisers work alongside education leaders to:
- support the development and review of careers strategies
- provide an employer perspective on skills, pathways and progression
- help embed local labour market information into careers programmes
- champion careers education and future workforce readiness
- act as a sounding board and strategic partner for Careers Leaders.
Enterprise Advisers come from a wide range of sectors and professional backgrounds and are matched with an education setting where their experience can have the greatest impact.
As an Enterprise Adviser with the Kent & Medway Careers Hub, you will:
- Give back to your local community and support social mobility
- Help shape careers education for thousands of young people across Kent & Medway
- Raise awareness of your sector, roles and pathways
- Develop leadership, communication and mentoring skills
- Build strong relationships with schools, colleges and other employers
- Gain valuable insight into the education system and future talent pipeline
You’ll also become part of both a local Careers Hub network and a national Enterprise Adviser community, with access to guidance, training and ongoing support from the Careers Hub.
The Kent & Medway Careers Hub supports Enterprise Advisers by:
- matching you with a suitable education setting
- providing induction, resources and ongoing guidance
- sharing local intelligence and best practice
- facilitating networking and collaboration opportunities.
You do not need previous experience of working with education — just a willingness to share insight and make a difference.
