Post -16 Phase Transfer

Young People in Kent

For those with children who have an Education, Health, and Care Plan (EHCP), there is a separate process called the Phase Transfer.  Emails have been sent to Parent/Carers of Year 11s asking for their parental preference of school or college for applications for September 2027.  Please complete this by 6th November 2026.  Further information is available here.

If a Further Education College is selected as the parental preference, we will send further information about how to apply for a specific course via KentChoices.  It is recommended that you do this as soon as possible for your best chance at securing your chosen subject/s. If you are unsure of how to apply via KentChoices you can watch this helpful video here.

SEND Information Hub

If you have special educational needs and/or a disability (SEND), did you know that Kent County Council's SEND Information Hub can also provide advice and support for your future?

The SEND Information Hub's young people section has been created in partnership with local headteachers, KentChoices, CXK and you!

  • Education - find out what options are available after you turn 16, including sixth form, college and further education.
  • Employment - learn about apprenticeships, supported employment, internships, work experience and volunteering opportunities.
