Why this course?

The A Level Chemistry course builds on the work you do at GCSE. The course attempts to answer the big question ‘what is the world made of?’ and it’s the search for this answer that makes this subject so fascinating. From investigating how one substance can be changed drastically into another, to researching a new wonder drug to save millions of lives, the opportunities that chemistry provides are endless.

How will it be delivered and assessed?

Assessment

AS Level: 2 x 90 minutes exam, 80 marks each.

A Level: Paper 1 105 minutes, 90 marks. Paper 2 105 minutes, 90 marks. Paper 3 150 minutes, 120 marks.

Entry requirements

GENERIC A LEVEL ENTRY REQUIREMENTS: 5 GCSE'S 4-9, including English Language

SUBJECT SPECIFIC ENTRY REQUIREMENTS: GCSE Combined Science grade 6-6 or GCSE Chemistry grade 6, Biology grade 5 and Physics grade 5 (must be higher tier). GCSE Maths grade 6 or above.
