Course Summary

The course for English Literature is challenging but enjoyable. Students who study this course will be working with other like minded individuals, who enjoy discussing different interpretations of texts. They will challenge the interpretations of other readers as they develop their own informed personal responses. This course allows you to voice your own opinion rather than a prescribed viewpoint

How will it be delivered and assessed?

The variety of assessment styles used, such as passage-based questions, unseen material, single-text questions, multiple-text questions, open and closed-book approaches allow students to develop a wide range of skills. These include the ability to read critically, analyse, evaluate and undertake independent research, all of which are valuable for both further study and future employment.

Entry requirements

We prefer Level 6 at English Literature GCSE, although a Level 5 will be considered in some circumstances.
