Entry Requirements: Five GCSEs grade 4 and above. Refer to individual subjects for the specific entry requirements.

GCE A Level Physics allows students the opportunity to further pursue their interests and develop their ability and understanding in Physics further in Years 12 & 13.

This course will allow the students the opportunity to move into further education to support any future career pathways including Engineering, Space and environment, Technology and Data, Finance and Business, Healthcare and Medicine and most other scientific careers.

Lessons involve high level teacher-led discussion and modelling, exam practice and technique, independent research, and practical activities, and are assessed via three linear exams at the end of Year 13.

Studying A-Level Mathematics alongside physics is preferable although not essential.

Year 12

Module 1 – Development of practical skills in physics

Module 2 – Foundations of physics

Module 3 – Forces and motion

Module 4 – Electrons, waves and photons

Year 13

Module 5 – Newtonian world and astrophysics

Module 6 – Particles and medical physics

Grade 7 or above in Science and Grade 7 or above in Maths
