Students who have an interest in:

• The technological and social change, looking at the multicultural nature of Hispanic society.

• The highlights of Hispanic artistic culture, including a focus on Spanish regional identity and the cultural heritage of past civilisations.

• Aspects of the diverse political landscape of the Hispanic world. Including exploring the influence of the past on present-day Hispanic communities.

• Learning the language in the context of Hispanic countries and issues and influences which have shaped them.

• Studying texts and films and to carry out independent research on an area of their choice.

Course Details

Why this course?

The AS and A Level course in Spanish provides a good knowledge of the Hispanic world. Improve the Spanish language in listening, speaking, reading, writing and translating skills. Develop the researching techniques.

How will it be delivered and assessed?

Assessment

This is a linear qualification. In order to achieve the award, students must complete all assessments at the end of the course and in the same series. Paper 1: Listening, reading, and writing, Paper 2: Writing, Paper 3: Speaking.

The exams will measure how students have achieved the following assessment objectives: AO1: Understand and respond. AO2: Understand and respond. AO3: Manipulate the language accurately, in spoken and written forms, using a range of lexis and structure. AO4: Show knowledge and understanding of, and respond critically and analytically to, different aspects of the culture and society of countries/communities where the language is spoken.

Entry requirements

GENERIC A LEVEL ENTRY REQUIREMENTS: 5 GCSE'S 4-9, including English Language

SUBJECT SPECIFIC ENTRY REQUIREMENTS: Grade 6 or above in GCSE Spanish
