Course Summary

Science is everywhere — in the medicines we take, the food we eat, and the technology we use every day. The BTEC National Level 3 in Applied Science is a practical, career-focused qualification designed for students who are interested in how science is applied in real-world laboratory, industrial, and medical settings. This qualification develops scientific knowledge and practical laboratory skills across biology, chemistry, and physics. It provides a strong foundation for higher education in science-based subjects or for progression into scientific employment. Assessment is through a combination of coursework, practical investigations, and externally assessed exams, allowing students to demonstrate understanding through applied tasks as well as theoretical knowledge. You will learn how to plan and carry out scientific investigations, collect and analyse data, and present scientific findings professionally.
