Course Summary

A-Level Art & Design

The qualification is designed for post-16 learners who aim to progress to higher education and ultimately to employment, possibly in the creative industries, as part of a programme of study alongside other BTEC Nationals or A Levels.

Course Details

Component 1: Personal Portfolio (60%)

Component 2: Externally Set assignment (40%)

Assessment:

Presentation of portfolio (60%) and timed exam (40%).

Entry requirements

Entry requirements:

5 x GCSE grades 9-4.

Interests:

Interests could be based in any of the following: media and advertising, fashion, journalism or design based work, fine art, photography, textiles, design, illustration, printmaking, graphics, sculpture, film and many more.

Personal attributes:

Disciplined, passionate, adaptable, observant, original, imaginative, curiosity.

Skills:

Working independently, excellent communication and teamwork skills, enthusiasm to seek out new perspectives, creating and building on existing knowledge, being open to feedback and learning new skills, processes and techniques.
