Course Details
YOU WILL COVER A WIDE RANGE OF ART TECHNIQUES USING A VARIETY OF MATERIALS AND DEVELOPING YOUR IDEAS CREATIVELY. LEARNING THROUGH THE INVESTIGATION OF ARTISTS AND RESEARCHING EXTENSIVELY WILL RESULT IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF AN INDIVIDUAL APPROACH AND STYLE. FINAL ART PIECES ARE PRODUCED ON AN INDIVIDUAL BASIS. DEVELOPMENTAL WORK AND THE ABILITY TO ANNOTATE THE PROGRESSIVE STAGES OF THE WORK WILL BE ESSENTIAL
How will it be delivered and assessed?
Unit 1 is evidenced through critical written communication showing contextual research and understanding (1000 to 3000 words) which may contain integrated images.
Unit 2 is an externally assessed set assignment, released in February, which contains a theme and suggested starting points. Students will create preparatory studies and then in April attend a 15 hour assessment to produce the final outcome.
Entry requirements
5 GCSE grades at 4 and above including a 5 in an Art subject. If you are opting for a different specialism to your GCSE a portfolio and meeting will be required.

You could take this course to complement other Advanced Level art courses. This could lead onto Higher Education in areas of art and design, photography, architecture or more general subjects. With further training, you could go into a job related to art and design such as an Architect, Interior Designer, Artist or Fashion Designer.
